Crossing

Borders

New in 2025

From December 10 to 12, 2025, La Academia ran its first Pop-up outside Puerto Rico. In partnership with Reinserta — a Mexican organization with deep experience in social reintegration — twenty young Mexicans took part in an intensive music-creation experience, working alongside professional producers and songwriters and finishing with three original songs.

The timing was fitting: the Pop-up opened just as Bad Bunny’s “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” world tour arrived in Mexico City — eight record-breaking nights at Estadio GNP Seguros, December 10–21 — a reminder that the Foundation’s roots in Rimas Entertainment can carry its model, and its reach, two thousand miles from home.

The collaboration required adapting our model to a different national context, and in doing so it demonstrated something we had not yet tested: that the method travels. What began as a program for Puerto Rican youth at risk and in the juvenile system proved portable to a comparable population two thousand miles away.

Framed precisely: the first Academia Pop-up outside Puerto Rico — the program's format for its international efforts, and one more campus in the network. Medellín is January 2026 and does not appear in this report.
