To inspire the next generation of leaders through music, sports, and the arts.
To create a future where young people have the opportunity to develop their individual and creative potential.
Our thesis
Music is where we begin, not where we end. The impact transcends: from a workshop to a skill, from a grant to a podium, from a program to a life.
Introduction
Founded in 2018; fully organized and in operation since 2022 — impact figures reflect 2022 onward.
If 2024 was the year we proved our model could work, 2025 was the year we proved it could scale. We ended 2024 operating La Academia in two campuses. We closed 2025 with a network of campuses spanning juvenile correctional facilities, public schools, community organizations, and — for the first time — a community-based reintegration track that follows young people after they leave institutional settings.
Three milestones define the year. First, we opened Campus Ponce at the Girls Correctional Center, positioning Fundación Rimas among the very few organizations providing continuous, structured support inside Puerto Rico's juvenile correction system — and, critically, extending that work to young women. Second, we launched La Academia Campus Comunidad, closing the gap between institutional programming and the reintegration process that follows it. Third, we built the partnership infrastructure — Wendy's, Spotify, the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation — that turns individual programs into a durable ecosystem.
Alongside that expansion, our participants produced work that speaks for itself: nine original songs in our first Boot Camp, a full album in the second, a documentary short from Llorens Torres, and a student-run event production cycle at Caras con Causa. Keep reading to learn about the communities where we co-created with young people this year.
